Michelle 生於台灣台北市, 童年的音樂影響環境為台灣民謠, 日本歌曲音樂, 台灣傳統室內樂, 人聲音樂創作, 舒伯特歌曲. 啟蒙老師為自己的兄長, 鄭迪遠 (迪遠自幼熱愛音樂, 天生音樂家, 作曲家, 聲樂家, 會多種樂器, 擔任過許多樂團指揮, 曾獲全台業餘歌唱比賽第一名), Michelle 受益最深尤其在音樂上的創作性與音樂性。
Michelle 青年時期熱衷西方音樂教育, 並多次前往德國, 奧地利等國家參與短期及長期學習音樂教育與創作等課程, 對於結合西方與本土音樂尤為熱衷。青年時期出版過系列的六冊相關音樂教材. Michelle 對於音樂教育推廣極爲用心, 她也是台灣 (1990) 第一位帶領音樂班學生團隊到德奧研習的老師. Michelle 的學習跨越國界, 她在1989～2014年期間到過許多不同的國家參加短期與長期音樂學習或音樂營隊活動, 德國, 奧地利, 英國, 法國, 荷蘭, 匈牙利, 傑克, 澳洲, 紐西蘭等30多個國家. 學習上受影響最深為德國, 奧地利, 匈牙利與紐西蘭.
Michelle 在紐西蘭停留最長時間, 超過16年, 除了在當地帶領過音樂室內樂團, 木笛樂團, 也接觸其他音樂團隊, 其他音樂相關工作及音樂治療的團隊, 同時也陸續取得幾個學位. 其中一個學位是紐西蘭國立奧克蘭大學音樂系畢業 (2019年榮獲全世界教育組織 T.H.E. 排名為全世界第一名最優質有影響力的大學), 主修古典與現代音樂作曲. 師事 Dr. John Elmsly, Dr. Eva de Castro-Robinson 和 Dr. Leonie Holmes.
Michelle 參與過百場以上的各種音樂會活動及演奏, 最高人數高達7000人以上 (紐西蘭國家音樂廳/室內樂及交響樂團, 紐西蘭奧特亞表演藝術中心/室內樂重奏, 臺中市中山堂/樂團指導, 臺中市政府前大廣場演出 等等). Michelle 創作作品將近百首以上含有室內樂, 直笛六聲部重奏, 混聲合唱, 鋼琴組曲, 交響樂, 人聲阿卡貝拉, 大提琴獨奏, 各種直笛重奏與獨奏, 銅管樂重奏, 弦樂四重奏 等等。Michelle 所作音樂曲風偏向自然, 在樂器的選擇上也偏向自然的聲音, 善長結合不同的樂器, 樂器的組合也喜歡接近原始自然的聲音, 在技巧與創作的呈現非常獨特, 除了音樂的意涵與故事延展性高, 也讓演奏家有強大及彈性的挑戰發揮空間.

Michelle was born in Taipei. Her childhood music background was Taiwanses folk music, Taiwanese chamber music, Japanese songs music, Schubert songs and vocal music creation. Michelle’s early childhood was influenced strongly by her elder brother, Di Yuan Cheng (Di Yuan, known as Aone who was a natural musician, composer, singer, playing many instruments, and a conductor of many orchestra. He has also won a first place in Taiwan’s amateur singing contest). Michelle has benefited most from him, especially in music creativity and musicianship.
Michelle was keen on Western music education in her early ages. She has been to Germany, Austria and other countries to short or long course study or attending music events for many times. She is particularly interested in combining Western and Taiwanese local music. She also has published a series of six related music textbooks in her early ages. Michelle insist the high value of music education, and she was the first person in Taiwan who took her group of music students to Europe to attend music event and study. Michelle's learning also crosses national borders, and has been to many countries during the period from 1989 to 2013 between Germany, Austria, Britain, France, the Netherlands, Hungary, Czech, Australia, New Zealand and other more than 30 countries. The most affected country on her studies are Germany, Austria, Hungary and New Zealand.
She has been staying in New Zealand for the longest time, that more than 16 years, in addition to leading Ensemble Music, Recorder music Ensemble, other music-related work and music therapy teams. She has also gained a few degrees. A graduate of the Department of Music at the University of Auckland, NZ (the tops world rankings by T.H.E. 2019), specializing in classical and modern music composition. Studied with Dr. John Elmsly, Dr. Eva de Castro-Robinson and Dr. Leonie Holmes.
Michelle has participated in more than hundred music events and concerts. The highest number of audience is more than 7,000+ (2013 Auckland Town Hall / Recorder + symphony orchestra, 1999 Auckland Aotea Square/ Recorder ensemble,1989 Taichung Zhongshan Hall / Music Director and 2023, 2024 Taichung city government square etc.) Michelle has written nearly hundred works including ensemble music, Recorder ensemble for six parts, chorus, piano suite, symphony orchestra, vocal Acarbella, cello solo, various wooden music and solo, brass ensemble, string quartet, etc. Her composition style has simple and natural melody, prefer natural sound for the instrument choice of a natural sound. She is very good at combining different instruments. In the music, her use of the technical skills and creativity is also very unique, in addition to the meaning of music and stories of high ductility, players also can have a strong challenge and flexibility to play.
